Today is our second animal day in a row, as it is Lizard Day. Now I've always wanted a pet lizard, but in the meantime I just have some lizard facts. Most people know the Komodo Dragon is the largest type of lizard, but not as many people know the smallest. That honor goes to the "Brookesia Nana", also known as the "nano chameleon". This chameleon doesn't change colors, but it is small enough that it can comfortably take a nap on your thumb if it wanted to.
Another cool lizard is the frilled lizard. They have flaps of skin they can fan out to make themselves look bigger, and they use this to scare people and attract mates. And back to Komodo dragons, did you know if a female Komodo dragon doesn't have any males to mate with they can still have babies anyway? These offspring are all male and, although not great for biodiversity, the female can mate with her own offspring to have a regular litter of dragons later. And that's only three different lizards. It's an amazing branch of the animal kingdom filled with a lot of cool little creatures.
I think we all need more cool lizards in our lives 🦎
