Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day. Black cats in particular famously have a bad rap in several superstitions. They are believed to be the familiars of evil witches, and walking dispensers of bad luck. And while I'm all for a little lighthearted superstition, when you find yourself getting upset by a domestic pet, you have to draw the line somewhere.

There is an often repeated fact that black cats are less likely to be adopted, but modern statistics point to this being untrue. However this could be a formerly true fact. People seem to be less superstitious about that kinda stuff nowadays, and I know some people seek out back cats on purpose because they love the idea of having a little spooky guy around. Anyway, I think black cats are swell and if you have one, let it know it's their day.

[EDITOR’S NOTE: In some cultures, black cats are actually considered good luck. One of those cultures is my brain. After all, seeing a black cat is a sure indicator that you get to see a kitty. Who’s a pretty kitty? It’s you!

…look, just because I use a mouse as my sona doesn’t mean I can’t love other animals.]
