August 21st

Today we are talking about a bug with a mutualistic relationship with humans, the honey bee. Honey Bees are a lovely little pollinating insect known for moving into human built structures and in exchange humans take the excess of the bee's honey and wax.

Now, a lot of people say honey is bee vomit. This isn't really true as the bee doesn't really digest the nectar, it processes it while not absorbing anything. Vomit is when everything comes out because something isn't supposed to be there. It can't really be vomit if it's only supposed to be there temporarily. I think this factoid is just parotted because it sounds gross. It's gross to think about consuming another animal's byproduct, and then you eat eggs and dairy (medical restrictions and veganism withstanding). Anyway, if you see a bee today, thank them or something, I guess.
