Today is the birthday of a man who won the internet by forging a path of internet phenomena. Neil Cicierega turns 36 today. Neil is known for a lot of things, but the first thing was Animutation. This was a subgenre of Flash animation that was big on Newgrounds and Albino Blacksheep, which Cicierega created when he was 13. Then there's his music. If you've ever heard someone talk about the band Lemon Demon, that's Cicierega. And aside from writing "Brodyquest" "Touch-Tone Telephone" and "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" Cicierega also does mashup remix albums under his own name, one of which I've already talked about on this site.
And we are still only at the top of this iceberg. He also has his YouTube channel, where he has hits like the breakout "Potter Puppet Pals" series and other classic parody videos. In particular, "Ariel needs legs" and "Splendorman", parodies of The Little Mermaid and Slenderman respectively, are also big hits. That's not even mentioning a dozen other things, like his even more other music projects. This man has somehow stayed internet famous more than half his life at this point and I'm excited to see his future efforts.
