August 5th

Today is the first Friday in August this year, which means it's National Water Balloon Day. Now, a water balloon is a summertime staple anywhere balloons are available. The most popular thing to do with water balloons is have fights. Similar to snowball fights in the winter, except you have to bring your own structure for the water.

One thing that can really shake up a water balloon fight, for better or worse, is adding things to the water. Usually like dyes or glitter to the water. You shouldn't throw a water balloon at someone if you put a marble in it. You can also freeze water balloons but you shouldn't throw frozen water balloons at people either. I wonder what shaved ice or snow in a water balloon would be like?

[EDITOR’S NOTE: If you decide to have a water balloon fight with glitter, I’d recommend using glitter that is biodegradable. It’s bad enough cleaning the latex balloon scraps off the ground– which you should do, don’t leave your trash lying out– but glitter? That stuff STAYS. Make it easier on yourself for cleanup. Also, you’re concerning me by bringing up the marble thing. I never would have thought of that. You clearly have a story.]

I've got a twin sister and a younger brother. Both of them moved out of state after highschool and I only really see them around the holidays if even then.
