Today is the anniversary of a bizarre discovery on a Dutch beach. In 2007 on this day, a LEGO Minifigure, taller than any man, appeared beached on a North Holland beach. Nobody knew how it got there, but it bore an ominous message in broken English on its torso: ""No Real Than You Are". This was the first of a few sutch figures to appear.
The next year, another one of these figures showed up in England, and LEGO denied any involvement with the figure, outside of it capturing the likeness of their toys. Its torso was a different color, but again read "No Real Than You Are". Then a third figure appeared in Florida in 2011, this time with a message on the back of it's torso in addition to the "No Real" on the front, a print like a sports jersey with the name "Ego Lenard" and the number 8. Some people think Lenard is secretly a Dutch pop artist named Leon Keer, but Keer claims while he helped with the project, Ego is a friend of his. You can decide what that means yourself, and there was a figure or two discovered after this event, but at the end of the day a six foot tall Minifigure is probably one of the weirdest things you could find at a beach.
Do we know what the megafigs were made out of?
