Today in 2012, the final issue of Nintendo Power was published. Nintendo Power was my favorite magazine as a kid, and I'd probably be subscribed to it today if it was still in print. The Magazine started in 1988, but then the 2010s happened and Nintendo didn't want to have an official magazine anymore. The last issue was swan song'd off with a comic featuring the magazine’s old child character mascot Nester, existing in ‘10 as an adult Nintendo fan with a son the age he was in his original comic appearances, contemplating the finale of the magazines run together. I know it might be hokey, but that Nester comic made me cry a little then and I cried a little more reading it again researching this article.
The magazine did have a revival as a podcast in 2017, and it's hosted by Chris Slate, the Editor-in-Chief from the original magazine. I should probably listen to it sometime, but I am not much of a podcast person in general. That being said, I feel like most of my Nintendo Power itch today is covered by a number of video game centric YouTube videos. In particular, I recommend the channels "NitroRad", "Scott the Woz", "Stop Skeletons From Fighting", "Nintendrew", and "Oddheader ".
