February 7th - Rose Day (Rainbow Rose)

Hello World, It's Calexta

Today is Rose Day. Roses are a beautiful variety of flowers. Its modern English name is believed to be long derived from an ancient Persian word for flowers, but to quote the bard: "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet".

My favorite type of rose is honestly more of a process than it is a variety of the flower. I like dyed roses, in particular rainbow roses. The way that they dye them, is that roses, like most flowers, can be dyed by placing the stem in dyed water and letting the flower petals absorb the color with the water. Rainbow roses take this up a notch by slicing the stem seven ways without taking off the flower head, and placing each stem segment in a different color.

These dyed flowers don't last as long as undyed roses, but let's be real, if you are going for longevity you are best off buying silk flowers. Also to note, it's common for scammers to sell people flower seeds with pictures of such colored flowers, so know when you see roses with anything more than a two tone going on, that color came in after the growing process.
