Today is the anniversary of a messed up little stop motion movie I think more people need to watch. The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb is a 1993 stop motion horror movie that is not really a retelling of the story of Tom Thumb so much as it is the story of a human/wasp hybrid homunculus and his search to find his family in a dystopian future england.
This film is definitely creepy, but that's what makes it good. There really are not as many stop motion horror films as there should be, and most of what is out there is family friendly horror. This one is definitely not one to show to pre-teens or grandma. Unless the kids have already seen worse or grandma is cool. But yeah I do recommend this film, but with viewer digression because it's Dystopian, Kafkaesque, Lynchian, and Nihilistic.
[ASSOCIATES NOTE: you made me watch this and I remember afterwards I told you, and I have this saved, that "so that little guy was just there for everything to suck for him, huh". I'd give the movie a 7.5/10]
i'll check that out! as a horror genre lover, i love when stop-motion is used in movies.
