Today is LEGO day! Lego is the largest toy company in the world, and aside from being a toy, their bricks are considered their own artistic medium. Lego Bricks were invented in 1949, and were based on other similar interlocking cube toys at the time. What made Lego different was the fact the bricks were plastic.
As someone with a healthy Lego collection, the best thing about Lego as a creative medium is how precisely spaced and sized the bricks are for connectivity. The first thing you learn in advanced Lego building is that the bricks will click together in ways you won't normally think of, and if you learn how everything fits together you can become a building block wizard. Also there's the Minifigures, but that's it's own topic.
[EDITOR’S NOTE: It is my role in life to point out that the proper spelling of LEGO is in all caps. I do not know why I find it necessary to fix this every dang time. I just know what I am called to do. I have exercised mercy today.]
