Today in 1987, the film The Brave Little Toaster first hit theaters. The movie is a fairly screwed up little romp about a bunch of household appliances that go on a religious pilgrimage to find someone ginger kid and they all nearly die so many times. There's organ harvesting imagery, a vacuum has a epileptic seizure, The Fire Clown, and near the end there's a musical number to sentent cars being put down. Fun for the whole family. The film was independently produced for distribution by Disney and involved a lot of guys who ended up working at Pixar. Even made it to Sundance, where according to rumors it almost won best film but was passed on due to the politics of giving the first animated film in the festival's history the award. All in all it's a great horror film and I'd not show it to any kids younger than seven.
