Today I'm talking about a popular mash-up album because I'm just the kind of person who loves that kinda thing. Mouth Silence was released on this day in 2017 by Neil Cicierega. If you don't know who Cicierega is, he is an internet man who has had his five minutes of fame a dozen individual times with no signs of stopping. He's also the band Lemon Demon, but let's worry about that later.
Well, this album is a mashup album that's a sequel to Mouth Sounds, a Smash Mouth/Shrek themed mashup album that goes harder than it has any right to. This album doesn't have any references to Shrek or Smash Mouth, except for subliminal messaging-flavored easter eggs. Like, he went with some totheark type code stuff on this mess. A few of the songs have encoded messages in like some number code but also Morse code. Anyway it's a great album. I recommend the song "The Best" which fuses Foo Fighters, Folgers coffee, the Carmen Sandiego theme song, and others.
[EDITOR’S NOTE: You took the song recc right out of my mouth, that’s one of my top picks from this album. But I’d also have to vouch for Space Monkey Mafia, a mind-spinning combination of R.E.M.’s “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It” and Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start The Fire”. That’s right– two exhausting karaoke choices, together at last!]
