Today Is the birthday of a movie that isn't particularly good. Like, I really think it was made just to sell toys at McDonalds. Not nice toys, specifically McDonalds. It's the 1999 Inspector Gadget movie. They got Matthew Broderick and made him a G-rated robocop over some 80's cartoon about a cyborg who is a detective. A terrible detective who's dependent on a dog and child to solve his mysteries.
Like, I could go off about how the Inspector Gadget cartoon is rumored to have started production as a Lupin III spin-off or how Doctor Claw’s face from the cartoon was only revealed in a single action figure, but I actually want to talk about the movie. I think this movie has a weird curse or something. Like, I remember watching this movie far too many times on Toon Disney back when that existed and the movie is like a time black hole. Any time I'd watch it, it would feel like 30-45 minutes went by but it was actually like two hours. I don't know why, but it is just weird. If anyone else has any films or shows that have a similar effect on them, let me know if you want.
To be fair didn't this movie have one of the better McDonald's toys?
