Today in 2000 one of the most enchantingly bizarre animated shorts ever made was unleashed on the world. They call it “Rejected”, and it's a deceptively simple animation. The cartoon follows the classic theme of "Money ruins Art" shown through a series of shorts that get increasingly violent and surreal until something cracks. Like all the works of the incredibly talented Don Hertzfeldt, the short has a simple yet effective art style that comes from Hertzfeld hand animating the whole cartoon.
Like, I can't express how impressed I am with this guy's work. Like it's easy to go "that cartoon has weird stick figures in it", but you miss the bigger picture when you are dismissive like that. The full short is on YouTube officially, but I will give content warnings for animated blood and gore and crude language. So don't watch it with your mom unless she's really cool with that stuff.
Oh an absolute classic! Have you ever watched it's such a beautiful day? It's a must see
