Today is Pi Day's pretentious younger brother, Tau Day. Basically it's an argument for people who do math for a living whether it's better to use Pi (3.14159ect.) or Tau, which is double Pi, for circle math. I am awful at math, so I have no option on which is better for what uses but I feel like there's probably a reason Tau doesn't come up highschool math.
Also, I feel like a big part of the appeal of Pi Day is the pun. Like for Pi Day you can usually bring food to math class and parrot that one asdf movie joke. Like, what do you do for Tau. It lacks the delicious homophone pi has. The other thing is I think pi has pizzaz from being a letter that doesn't have a direct Roman alphabet counterpart. Tau is directly T. I'm sorry for cramping on Tau on its birthday like this, but it's a mathematical symbol that doesn't know I'm talking about it.
[EDITOR’S NOTE: Obviously for Tau Day you live in harmony with The Way and follow the teachings of Laozi. Less delicious AND less of an obvious joke!]

Another big issue with Tau day is that's in the middle of the summer so it doesn't give a free day for kids in math class like pi day dose. My mom was a teacher and she'd get all the left over pi day goodies from her school so she'd come home with was essentially a sampler of mixed cookies and individual pies slices. Also I had almost forgotten about ASDF movie.
