Today marks 24 years since the release of a movie that I think aged too well. The Truman Show is a psychological dramedy about a man who was chosen at birth to live out many people's worst fears. His entire life existed on an overly elaborate stage made to appear as Island town, as a tv show where everyone but him was a paid actor, and everything he did was broadcast to the world as reality television. Naturally, Truman starts to figure this out and loses it.
The film stars Jim Carrey in a surprise dramatic performance that he really pulls off. What makes this film so under-your-skin for a lot of people is the idea that if something like this actually happened to you, what could you even do about it. Not to spoil the film, but Truman's experience after he finds out what's going on is harrowing. To be honest, if I found out my life was just some TV show, I'd not be brave enough to do what happens in the movie. I'd probably just get really annoying. I'd just make it everyone else's problem until the Ed Harris producer guy takes me to the glue factory or something.

I always love seeing comedy actors in serious roles, even if they do a bad job it's interesting, jim was good in this one though
