March 17th - St. Patrick's Day

Today is St. Patrick's Day, a holiday that means a lot of things in a lot of places but in the United States it's considered a day to celebrate Irish culture. St. Patrick’s is admittedly a drinking holiday for a lot of people, but personally I don't drink. That being said, I do like to cook, so I like to pick a good Irish recipe and make a nice meal with it. Beef and Guinness Stew is my current plan this year, as Cal wants to help me make it.

The one big fun fact I have for this holiday is one from Savannah, Georgia. In the city's Forsyth Park, there's this really nice fountain and every year they dye the fountain green, and it really is a vibrant sight. Personally, the green fountains are another one of those things I saw as a kid and had a blast but the memory is getting fuzzy as I get older. I also remember leprechaun traps but I think that one was mostly kindergarten whimsey, even if my friend Kevin claims to this day he caught a leprechaun once.

I still stand by that claim! I remember it like it was yesterday...only the leprechaun didn't give me any gold. Turns out they're just normal, albeit magical, guys like the rest of us. Pretty funny guy too! Wonder how hes doing.
