Today in 2007, a surprisingly long running stop motion series first hit the air. Shaun The Sheep is a animated series created by Aardman animation, and is a spinoff of The Wallace and Gromit short, "A Close Shave", where Shaun was a single scrawny named sheep among a flock kidnapped by the short's antagonist. In his own series, Shaun acts as a trickster and a heroic mime.
I remember when this show first aired in the United States, and I was very surprised to learn that 16 years later that the series is not only still in production, but it's received 6 seasons, two full movies, and three seasons of a spinoff series "Timmy Time" about one of the baby sheep. It feels like I blinked for a minute and this sheep has gotten up to absurdly incredible things. Classic Shaun.
[EDITOR’S NOTE: His name is Shaun because it sounds like “shorn” in a British accent. You didn’t need to be told this. I just like it.]
