Today is the birthday of a record breaking amusement ride. Residing at the Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, and opened in 2005, the Kingda Ka has spent its 17 years on this earth maintaining the coveted title of world's tallest roller coaster. Kingda Ka is a massive 456 feet or 139 meters tall. It used to also be the world’s fastest coaster, but the Formula Rossa at Ferrari World in Dubai has since surpassed it.
And now for my derailment [EDITOR’S NOTE: HA!] of this lovely information about roller coasters. I hate riding roller coasters because I'm a coward, but I love learning about them. And can I just say, this guy does come up a lot, and I am surprised nobody has gone higher yet. Like, we are just under 500 feet tall by 50 feet. I don't usually do this, but if we get a taller coaster, I'll write an update to today's article.
May 21st - Kingda Ka (world's tallest roller coaster)
Updated: Feb 12, 2023
Hey, New Jersey! That's where I'm from! I grew up with people around me constantly praising Six Flags and the Kingda Ka. People were jealous if you got to skip school for Six Flags, too. It was always very intriguing, but similarly, I am terrified of roller coasters. I'd almost forgotten my state is home to the tallest coaster in the world. Happy birthday, Kingda Ka!
