Today is National Solitaire Day, and man if solitaire isn't one of my favorite time wasters, and I know I'm not the only one. The most popular, and my personal favorite, ruleset for solitaire is a game called "Klondike". Klondike is considered ubiquitous enough as solitaire that if you see a game just labeled solitaire, it's just going to be Klondike 99% of the time.
That being said, a particular simulator of Klondike has set itself as standard for over three decades: Microsoft Solitaire. The original version of Microsoft Solitaire had card sprites designed by Susan Kare, who is best known for her work on the GUI design on the original Macintosh. It's a simple yet addicting card game simulator that has well earned its reputation as the ultimate 90's computer time sink.
