May 25th - Star Wars

Updated: Feb 12, 2023

Today the first Star Wars movie came out in the ‘70s, and I just want to press the metaphorical button on the hypothetical Tape measure that is the Star Wars franchise, because we are just thinking about the first movie today. Because what Star Wars is today is starkly different from when that first movie first came out. Like, now there's a big universe and set rules and Yoda and Baby Yoda and everything, but none of that was in mind when they made the first movie. The film didn't even have a full release. At first, everyone except Spielberg was expecting it to fail. Like, they were surprised it got a second movie. Imagine what kids in the ‘70s would have thought of that premium Star Wars hotel thing Disney just put out. Who am I kidding? Those ‘70s kids are still alive and probably booking tickets.
