May 29th - Pink Flamingo Day

Today is Pink Flamingo Day. They say there are more plastic flamingos in the United States than real flamingos, and I wanted to break down that fun fact, but got sidetracked during my research. See, flamingos aren't native to the United States, or so I thought. While they only breed in other regions, there is a variety of flamingo known as the American Flamingo that are native to Central America and the Caribbean, and is even known to be seen in parts of central Florida. I'm completely taken out of breaking down the plastic flamingo thing because I had no idea about the American flamingo. Like I feel like I should have known wild flamingos are just kinda around sometimes one state over from me. Like you could go to the Florida keys for pie and see a wild flamingo. Absolutely wild.
