Today in 1955, the first episode of Jim Henson's first TV show, "Sam and Friends”, aired in the Washington DC area. It was a series of little 5 minute skits that would air twice a day on weekdays. Kermit wasn't even a frog yet. A fair bit of it is just muppets lip syncing.
You gotta appreciate it for being the seed of the Muppet tree. Everything afterwards, from Sesame Street, to the Muppet Show, to Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal– everything built up from the roots of a few homemade puppets lip syncing on the local TV station. Also, seeing Kemit before he was officially a frog is odd for sure. He was kinda just a lizard guy before that.
