Today is National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day, an obscure holiday I picked because it's name was really long and specific. Now the thing that gets me on this one is the fact it's bittersweet chocolate. Bittersweet chocolate is specifically a variety of dark chocolate with a cacao percentage of around 60%-70% and a higher percentage of added sugar, but doesn't have any of the milk content standard milk chocolate has. And it has to be with almonds for today.

Personally I don't really like almonds that much, it's a D-tier nut in my book. Like I'll eat it but it's going to be my last choice. And I have to admit I'd also prefer an actual dark chocolate to a bittersweet chocolate, because I feel like a real dark chocolate has a, not quite fruity undertone. It's a rich tone that reminds me of the smell of nice perfume. I feel kinda bad I spent National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day complaining about it, but I don't think the candy will care, not like those tigers a while back.

[EDITOR’S NOTE: Come on, man! Almonds are delightful! Slivered almonds add fantastic texture, marzipan is delicious, and you can always use bitter almonds as a clue in a mystery novel. I’m hungry now. For sweets, not arsenic.

Also, aren’t the terms “bittersweet” and “dark” generally interchangeable for chocolate? I dunno.]
