Today we are going to talk about names being confusing. This day in 1975, the first episode of the still running Saturday Night Live aired. However, SNL wasn't called Saturday Night Live yet. It was called "NBC's Saturday Night". The thing was, there was already a different show called "Saturday Night Live", in particular, ABC's "Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell". The thing was, Howard Cosell's show was a stinker, with the smell coming from the fact that its host was a sportscaster out of his element as a variety show master of ceremonies.

Anyway, the ABC SNL got canned. As a result however, NBC's Saturday Night was able to take the "Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell" name and Bill Murray in its second season. With Murray joining the show in episode 35, and the name officially changing to it's currently held Saturday Night Live in episode 41, I'd have to say it's a good thing the one Saturday Night cannibalized the other. Also I can't go through this one without saying this, but The Blues Brothers is my favorite completely live action, no animation, no puppets [ASSOCIATE NOTE: The Frank Oz cameo doesn't count as a puppet], movie.

Show on show violence! And you have amazing taste, The Blues Brothers is an incredible movie. So much star power, and it’s really up my alley with my music taste. And the practical effects and choreography and stunts were OUT of this world.

Ohh that’s so interesting, I never heard that! I agree that keeping it classic makes it sorta timeless. Sure it would’ve been cool to update it for the times, but with the whole film being a celebration of classic blues and soul music I think that would be the best possible way to do it.
