Today, I will tell you about a deeply underrated Halloween special that first came out today in 1993. While I've never read Fahrenheit 451 or The Martian chronicles, I'm a big fan of Ray Bradbury's short stories (my favorite is "There Will Come Soft Rains"). Interestingly enough Bradbury has called today's film one of his favorite adaptations of his work.
The Halloween Tree is an hour long adaptation of a novel adapted from a canceled yet shorter Chuck Jones TV special. It tells the story of a group of trick or treating kids who are taught lessons about the origins of Halloween by a mysterious host. This host is an apparent psychopomp named Mr. Moundshroud who is after the soul of a charismatic boy who pretty much died after his appendix burst. I should also mention Mr. Moundshroud is voiced by Leonard Nimoy. This special is a must watch every Halloween for me, and I recommend you watch it too.
Well we'll just have to watch this one
