Today in 1983, Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo Family Computer first hit shelves in Japan. To say that this is one of the most important and valuable video games ever made would be an understatement. Everyone and their grandmother knows Mario, and this was the game that truly made him was today. No longer the common Popeye expy Jumpman, he was a little man who ate mushrooms and fought chestnut mushroom monsters and weird turtles.
I've got to say I like Mario as a character. He's just a polite little Italian man who loves his friends. I love Luigi too, he has just a little bit more personality than Mario, and that personally is him being a coward but going through the adventure anyway. He is the Courage The Cowardly Dog of fictional Italians. I bet Courage and Luigi would be friends, and I bet you someone has probably already drawn this concept. I lost my thought, but happy birthday to one of the most video games of all time.
[EDITOR’S NOTE: Remember Polterpup, the ghost dog Luigi adopts at the end of Luigi’s Mansion 2? I think he would introduce Polterpup to Courage, who would be afraid at first but then they’d be buddies. This has nothing to do with Super Mario Bros for the Famicom/NES. But listen.]
I like how you drew that goomba
