Today is National Playdoh Day. Playdough is a sculpting material you can eat without any major side effects however it tastes bad so you shouldn't eat it. But you could. They have a lot of playdough sets with presses and mold, and dough with color effects or confetti, but there's just something deeply satisfying about a single soft cylinder in a bright color you can just squeeze your fingers into.

Playdough is a simple way to teach children there's some things you can't undo, as they have their first experiences mixing the colors together and learning you can never get the original color back. Sure, you can mix paint, but you can't put paint away for next time. Any mixed colors stay mixed, and any improperly closed lids leaving nothing but a rock to come back to. A casual lesson in permanence and preservation.
