Today is Red Panda Day. Red pandas, also called lesser pandas, are fluffy little guys. To get this out of the way, there was a major animated film about red pandas in Canada semi-recently and it was very good, but I'm not interested in talking about it further than "yeah that happened".
Anyway, fluffy little dudes. A lot of people say red pandas are evidence that giant pandas are closer to raccoons than bears. The thing is, giant pandas and red pandas aren't close enough on the evolution tree to really say this, with red pandas being closer to racoons and pandas just being actual bears. I think koalas not being bears might be a factor in this confusion. Koalas are closer to kangaroos. Fluffy little guys united.
