Today is Mark Hamill's birthday. If you are a nerd, you know him from Star Wars. If you are a real dweeb, he's Luke Skywalker, the Joker, Fire Lord Ozai, and Skips among others. Like, he really got into voice acting after Star Wars. Probably one of my personal favorite characters he's voiced is Larry from Time Squad, who, and I'm not going to mince words, is as gay of a robot as they could put on childrens television in 2001. Like, a good amount of the show is "we know how gay this is, and you know how gay this, is but we both also know how homophobic Standards and Practices can be so we are saying it without saying it as much as we can." And the show has an interesting mix of slapstick sitcom statism and actual sweet moments that made me wish it got a third season or at least some reruns.
Back to the birthday boy, I do also recommend Hamill's guest appearance on the Muppet show as both in character as Luke Skywalker and as Luke Skywalker's annoying cousin Mark Hamill. Plus, the ending of the episode is probably funnier today than it was when it aired. I also have a particularly funny and meta DC Short where Mark is kidnapped by two characters he voices, to recommend.
Marik is such a treasure! He can do it all, and he’s naturally funny and friendly to boot!
Who doesn't love gay robots tho
