Today is a Telephone Tuesday. Telephone Tuesday is an odd little observance based around an observation. Apparently, businesses receive the largest amount of incoming phone calls the day exactly after Labor Day. The exact size of the increase varies from industry to industry, but according to multiple sources, some companies can expect up to a 50% increase in phone calls.
The reason for this is probably the fact that everyone agreed to take a long weekend and come back the next day, so any business put on hold until after Labor Day is all addressed at once. Contrast this to something like Christmas where not everyone celebrates it and when Christmas break begins and ends varies by profession. Anyway, if you are in a profession where you are answering phone calls today, I'm sorry and good luck.
